Happy New Year!I hope you have enjoyed the first two Sunday's as much as I have! We have been blessed, and even with health issues, the Lord has brought us together in worship and fellowship. I wanted to thank all of you who were praying while I was sick. Your love and provision during past couple fo weeks were an awesome expression of God's love working in each of you.
As we start to think about 2010 I hope that you will begin to consider our focal point of "Christ First." We always want to keep our Lord and Savior at the front of our concern and the obvious motivation of our service. Our theme verse for this year is Colossians 1:17-18 17:
He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead.
So he is first in everything.
I hope that you will find the ability in your heart, mind and habits to put Christ first in everything. Perhaps 2010 will be a year of re-ordering or re-commitment. Perhaps it will be the year of your first step of faith in the Name of Jesus. In any case, my hope is that 2010 will be a year where Jesus is first in all things.
We will continue our study of Philippians through the winter and early spring. We will then begin a series on reaching up, reaching down, reaching in and reaching out. Christ must be first if we are to reach up to the heavenly father. Christ must be first if we are going to learn to transcend. Christ must be first if we are going to serve one-another. Christ must be first if we are going to reach the WORLD in His name.
Be sure to utilize the church web-site as a tool for communication and outreach. There have been some changes there. I will be posting the messages from each Sunday service there during the week. The 2009 Christmas programs (video) will also be there this week. You will have to register at the site to be able to view the Christmas Children's program.
If you use the modern social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter, be SURE to check us out at http://facebook.com/charity2u and http://twitter.com/charitybap
Become a FAN of our facebook page to be kept up-to-date with weekly events. We will also feed those updates to twitter and the homepage of the charity2u site. Our main web site is http://charity2u.org
Have a great week, get working on those resolutions and I look forward to seeing you at Bible Study, Worship Team practice or next Sunday!
By His Spirit,
Pastor Matt
