"Love not the world neither the things of the world."

A constant struggle for us as believers. Two things grow dim when we love either the world (system) or the things (manmade or God-made) of the world.

The first is our view regarding the importance of reaching Heaven is dimmed. If we love this world and/or the things in this world then we will be unconcerned with the purity of being in God's presence. We will be satisfied with the "local image" and we will then begin to fade from craving to do God's will and to be Holy as He is Holy.

The second is that our view of people, or rather the fallen and broken condition of people is greatly dimmed. When we lose concern for people our greatest mission as the church is stalled. God always has made fallen people a priority. He speaks to them, loves them, chastises and if they fail to respond, He punishes them. Our desire to let the Love of Christ show to people (God's and the unsaved) is closely tied to how much we are enraptured with the world and the things of the world.

Eyes focused on heaven a bit dim? Eyes that see the needs of people clouded over? Check your perspective on the world and the things of the world, you might find the root of the issue there.

One thing about which I need constant reminders. This world is cursed and will suffer God's wrath and vengance which will ultimately lead to it "melting with a fervant heat" so it is a good thing to not become TOO attached.
